The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park will be holding our 5th annual Courtship Tails event on two weekends this year! This unique Valentine’s Day event is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th & Sunday, February 12th and the following weekend of Saturday, February 18th & Sunday, February 19th. Guests may make reservations for tours between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm each day. During this very special event, couples are led on a fun and humorous tour of the Binghamton Zoo. This event is adults only and reservations are required. Each tour group is limited to four couples to make it a unique and intimate experience. After an exciting tour of the zoo, guests will be issued a voucher good for a dinner for two including appetizer and dessert at Michelangelo’s Restaurant, good for any time in February.

At the start of the tour, couples will get their pictures taken, and receive a complementary framed photograph. They will then be chauffeured via one of our heated vans to the upper zoo to begin their tour. Throughout the guided tour, guests will visit our Education Center, Rainforest Aviary, Woodland Waters, and Wolf Woods. All of the areas during the tour are indoors, so there will be very little outdoor walking.
Tour leaders will talk about the many unique courtship displays and mating rituals of animals within the zoo and across the globe. Couples will learn answers to questions such as: How do porcupines mate, and which bird attracts a mate by building an elaborate multicolored bachelor pad?
Couples will also enjoy behind the scenes views of our North American river otters and black footed penguin exhibits. This makes for a special close up encounter with these animals. During stops throughout the tour, couples will receive complementary appetizers, coffee, tea, and sweet treats. And for wine lovers over the age of 21, there will also be a complementary wine and chocolate tasting featuring Americana Winery and Something Sweet Gourmet. At the conclusion of the tour, couples will receive their voucher for dinner at Michelangelo’s Restaurant.
The price for Courtship Tails is $100.00 per couple which includes the tour, dinner and gratuity. Price without the dinner package is $60.00 per couple. Both packages include the wine tasting, appetizers, coffee, tea and sweet treats. For reservations please call Patti Searles at 607-724-5461 ext. 231.
